About

Muriel Hahn Jordan

My name is Muriel Hahn. I currently live in the Los Angeles area, filled with a few cliches… first off, I eat sushi. And, I’m not talking about California Rolls because they obviously don’t count. Sushi is my favorite food and I could probably eat anything using chopsticks alone. Secondly, I love acting. It’s invigorating and if I could do it professionally, I would. (SOME DAY!)

I love French.
I love Rosebud Salve.
I love the complimentary drink postcard from Starbucks.
I love sleeping in.
I love traveling and road trips.
I love Sailor Moon.

No. Really. I LOVE Sailor Moon. I have all of the seasons on DVD in Japanese. Currently, I’m collecting all of the re-released mangas, including the first release of Codename: Sailor V in the US. I’m also working on my first tattoo, which won’t happen until I find the perfect manga panel for my back.

Just ignore that last sentence, Mom.

I read. I read so much, I was lovingly given a Nook because I don’t have enough shelf space. I love reading dystopian fiction as well as inspiring non-fiction and comics. Some favorites: The Handmaid’s Tale, Hunger Games, His Dark Materials, The Passage, The Giver, The Road, Disappearing Spoon, Emperor of All Maladies, The Alchemist, Fight Club, The Walking Dead, Daytripper, The Lovely Bones, The Millenium Trilogy, American Psycho, and more.

If I could be paid to just take classes in a college setting, I would do that too. I took every course I was possibly interested in during my college days. And now, I’m enrolled through an online program for Women’s Studies. Am I wasting time? I don’t know, but I can play the piano because of it!

I’m a wedding photographer that has probably teared up at every wedding I’ve photographed. I’m not sure why, because I don’t even cry at those moments in movies where everyone around me is balling (except for Toy Story 3. Oh my goodness, I had to hold back The Ugly Sob).

And who loves movies? ME! My favorites are Amelie, NeverEnding Story, Donnie Darko, Inglourious Basterds, Casablanca, The Matrix, any Studio Ghibli film, 500 Days of Summer… okay, there are a lot more.

So what’s your favorite food or movie or book? And pray tell, do YOU have a tattoo? :)

mabuhay! i like the way you set-up the images on your blog, it looks minimal though there’s a lot of text and pix on each page. Also, good composition and lighting on your subjects… impressive! =)

I found your site searching for info about the misha mokwa trail. Your photography is stunning — can you provide info about your equipment and post processing? The flower close ups are just super. But even the everyday scenes have a wonderful nostalgia quality to them.

Hi Jon – thanks for the compliments! My equipment includes a Canon 40D and the “more expensive” kit lens, 17-85mm f/4. I use Lightroom for post processing with a special preset that I tweaked. I resize the image in Photoshop and that’s about it. My equipment hasn’t expanded beyond this yet =) I’ll also rent gear when needed. I love the 5D Mark II with a 35mm 1.4/f – yum!

    Muriel,

I’m a friend of Nancy and Paul Sr. I was reading Nancy’s blog and clicked on your site. Your pictures are Amazing! You are so talented and have a unique style. I enjoyed viewing all your work.

I look forward to seeing more of your work.

I sent a link to a friend of mine who goes to Biola and is majoring in film. She did some pictures of my grandchildren that were also amazing. She also has a unique style. I’m sure she will enjoy your gallery. Would you be interested in doing any student films. She is currently making her film and I know has friends in the process of casting. No money just experience.

I haven’t seen Little Paul since he was little he was so cute. He has grown up to be a very handsome guy. Best of Luck to you both. Linda
